February 1st marks the first day of Black History Month. Acknowledging the triumphs and obstacles that African-Americans have experienced is important, as Black history is American history. Critical race theory being under attack in several states and cases of police brutality frequently dominating headlines is a sad but powerful indicator where we are as a country.
