Abstract

Marion Waller will present the urban strategy developed by the City of Paris around greening streets, planning the public space for pedestrians and bikes, transforming emblematic spots such as the riverbanks and the main squares. She will explain the method used to change the architectural processes in Paris in order to favor renovation rather than demolition and bio-sourced materials rather than concrete. She will also present the results of the “Reinventing Paris” competition and how innovation can be combined with the Parisian patrimony.

Green Cities 2021 is a monthly virtual lecture program organized by the Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization on the first Thursday of each month at noon Eastern Time. The series focuses on innovations and achievements in sustainability and resilience worldwide. More information about Green Cities, including the previous talks on New York, Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona, can be found on the CSU website, https://consortiumforsustainableurbanization.org
